Anzen opens a new state-of-the-art wine testing
lab
Anzen Biosciences introduces an innovative wine
testing system to California’s major wine consultants 21-24 May at its
new lab in Grass Valley.
Using proprietary chemistries for DNA extraction and molecular analysis, Anzen
Biosciences introduces a new wine testing process that can be accomplished
in two to three hours and is seven times less expensive than traditional testing.
The result is a faster, cheaper, more convenient and cutting-edge approach
to testing wine.
“
The goal is to identify any spoilage enzymes from a bad batch of wine,” says
Dr. Pat Williams, founder of Anzen Biosciences. “Because traditional
spoilage testing can take two to three weeks, a bad bug could ruin an entire
barrel or all of a product during the time waiting for the result. With winemakers
producing $200-$300 bottles of wine and 60 cases per barrel, you can see
how important testing can be.”
The open house invites wine makers to provide samples for testing so the new
process and equipment can be demonstrated. Some of the largest vineyards in
California will be represented.
“
The vineyards are very interested in what we’re doing,” Williams
says. “We’re trying to help winemakers make a better batch of
wine.”
Anzen to Showcase at 2007 ASEV Annual Meeting
Anzen Biosciences will attend the American Society
for Enology and Viticulture's Annual Meeting on June 19-22, 2007 in Reno. "In
the past, there have been few alternatives for quality laboratory testing tools
and services for our industry" says wine consultant, Steve Burch. "Anzen offers
diagnostic services to vineyard managers to assist in the production of the
best grape crop possible. We're anxious to get the word out."
Anzen will have a booth at the Supplier Showcase
of this, the 58th Annual Meeting that will take place at the Grand Sierra Resort
(previously Reno Hilton) in Reno, Nevada.
Organizers of the event say
the meeting will continue to emphasize a more individualized program with varied
technical levels from scientific research to fundamental practice. For more
